Nothing like Father’s day for a girl’s day out.
That is what we thought.
We met to go to a “cozy family barbeque” on a homely farm, which turned out to be a mass gathering for 300+ people, all trying to get that last piece of strawberry pie …
So we fled to the forest, got lost in the woods, found a witch house, got a lesson from an expert in how to raise frogs, got lost in the woods again, found a not-so-secret water fountain, and finally returned to Frankfurt to chill at the hidden Schwedlersee. Thank god they let me in with the dog, which usually is not allowed. But Hunter had passed out already after a day’s worth of lake swimming and stick searching and was nothing more than a happily sleeping bundle of joy in my arms. He looked so innocent – he even got an invite to come back.
It was a most wonderful day.
Walking home that night took us through the lesser known part of town – through the deep guts “behind the scene” commercial area: where thick black blood flows and the smallest vehicle you will see has 16 wheels. 45min amidst construction sites, railways and container trucks, when, all of the sudden, there was a small circus in the middle of all that deserted nothingness. Like a tiny and utterly surreal island of colorful light with not a living soul to be seen. Instantly, Quentin Tarantino’s “From Dusk Till Dawn” came to my mind – but there was this huge fence separating us which made it impossible for me to check the theory.

Guess I do have favorite spots.

Sorry I have not been updating lately. There is A LOT happening – and quite amazing things, too. I hope I can share some of it soon.
In the meantime: Happy Springseason to everyone!!!
Ramblings after complaints from my BF:
Yes, there ARE elements of spring in this picture: red tulips and yellow daffodils, although I have to admit that they are hard to see in this very small version of the image …
And no, is not a backyard, but the rather sad frontyard of a local church that I passed some days ago while taking my dog out for a stroll.
More complaints?!?!
:o)

It was born over a century ago as a healthy “18×13″.
Just booked a summer workshop in England to learn how to feed it with Collodion … and I have yet to find out how to get the chemicals here in Germany.
Cannot wait!!!

May your party never end.

Just browsing through some snaps I did on Christmas and stumbled upon this one. It shows the remains of Hunter’s presents about 15 minutes after he got them. I have never seen a more eager little creature. He is totally versatil in opening packages, as this is his “job” here at home. When the postman arrives, it is Hunter’s time to work. Albeit I have to say that he got less and less elegant in the last 2 years. As you can see above. Although he never scratches the content, the packaging is totally in pieces. And if the content is for him, it will basically look the same as the box in a matter of no time.
Christmas night was a very exciting time for him.
I am ever so thankful his only destruction tendencies are directed towards packaging material and his toys. He does not touch anything else.
The first time I noticed that he had a hang for opening boxes, was when I was packing my things some day before the moving van came to transport the boxes to our “new” appartment. It was in the middle of the night and I was sitting in my living room, wrapping things and stuffing them into the cardboard boxes, which I then closed with duct tape, on which I’d write the contents, so I would be able to reuse the boxes at a later time (I move around a lot). I was terribly tired and quite happy to see that I was coming to an end. I was so focussed on finishing the job that I did not notice my dog went missing in the room where I was putting the closed boxes.
Meanwhile he was quietly chewing off the edges of the duct tape and cleanly stripping it off the boxes with an elegant move while climbing from one side to the other. Almost all of the boxes were open and the duct tape became a huge messy bulk in the middle of the room … I eventually managed to tape all the boxes shut again, but the missing content description caused a lot of trouble afterwards.
Since then he is our “unpacker” … albeit he now prefers to make holes into our packages. It is quicker. Guess he thinks he is paid by piece.

Just being a bit sentimental …
Guess it is the end-of-year syndrome.

I will excuse myself from the blog for some time. I had a tough day yesterday, witnessing an heart attack for the first time. My father’s.
He made it through and will be released from hospital in a couple of days – hopefully. But I am kind of shaken – and I do not really feel like talking. Nor writing. I will have to digest the awful images first.

It was party time in the studio of a friend yesterday. And we had the most perfect evening (night)!
How long has it been since I have last danced? Too long!
Sometimes I do not notice how I slide into total working mode. Sometimes it is good to have friends who remind you that there is more out there than what a to-do list can offer. Sometimes I remember one of the reasons why I gave up painting and why I love photography.
No party images this time. Only a lonely reflective moment in a perfect row of pearly ones.
