Pink Lobo

This project was born in September 2009 in a gated ghost town named Lobo, which is situated next to the Mexican border in Texas, USA. Friends of mine bought the town – with a vision of a second “Marfa” in their minds.

With few exceptions, the double pages show slight variations of the same objects. They each stand for the subjective view through a fictional pair of rose tinted glasses.

The pictures are arranged into 8 “chapters” (groups) of 6 double pages each – 48 double pages of images in total. Each new chapter offers a variation of the chapter before.

In the end the whole sequence stands for the repeated attempt to realise a dream, like the search for perfection, or the eternal love, which is always doomed to fail, as soon as reality chimes in. It also stands for the characteristic of mankind to have visions in the first place and to strive for them again and again, no matter the circumstances and difficulties. We all feed on hope. Even if we do not believe in eternal love we are unable to fight against falling in love … and we always hope to surpass reality by becoming the one exception to the rule.

(see more about the place in the blog section here, here and here).

And if you wonder how I got the pink images … I will give you a clue below.

I am sorry, but at present you still need a password to see the whole project …
